At First Eye Care Bedford, we not only measure your prescription but provide a complete analysis of your eye health by integrating our clinical findings with your medical history. We also measure your visual acuity, intraocular pressure, assess your extra-ocular motility, and quantify your peripheral vision. It is extremely important to have regular eye exams, so call our office for an appointment today.

Contact Lens Fitting and Evaluation

There are literally thousands of brands of contacts available to the population. By measuring the curvature of the eye, evaluating the health of your eye, and talking to our patient to determine their visual demands and expectations, we can determine which one is best for you. We carry a variety of lenses to help correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and even for patients needing bifocals. Newer soft contact lenses allow more oxygen to the eye while still maintaining great vision. Our goal is your complete satisfaction in vision and comfort with your contacts.

Glaucoma Management

Glaucoma is an asymptomatic disease that affects over 2 million Americans. It causes elevated pressure within the eye; therefore, it damages the optic nerve and causes irreversible vision loss and blindness. This disease can affect anyone at any age, but there are several risk factors to look out for: increasing age, African American heritage, high blood pressure, family history, diabetes, extreme nearsightedness, long-term steroid use, and injury/trauma to the eye. It is important to understand that there is no cure for glaucoma, but oftentimes, it can be controlled. Glaucoma should be checked for routinely during annual eye exams.
